South Korea’s MoE officially listed 15 chemical substances (KE-19-0001~KE-19-0015) into the Existing Chemicals Inventory (KECI) by MoE Announcement No. 2020-76 on April 14th, 2020. They were domestically circulated in South Korea before February 2nd, 1991.
The updated KECI contains 44,491 existing substances, including:
l Annex 1 of 37,104 chemical substances domestically circulated in Korea prior to Feb 2nd, 1991; and
l Annex 2 of 7,387 chemical substances published by MoE after hazard evaluation under TCCA (replaced by K-REACH in 2015) after Feb 2nd, 1991.

The revised K-REACH took effect on Jan 1st, 2019, which requires all existing chemicals manufactured/imported in quantities of one tonne per year or more to be registered. Those not listed in the KECI are regarded as new chemical substances subject to new chemical registration. Please note that K-REACH does not have procedures to include assessed new chemical substances into the KECI as existing substances.
