Updates on June 1, 2023:
South Korea's MoE issued the MoE Announcement No. 2023-122 on June 1, 2023, adopting the proposed updates to Annex 2 of the Existing Chemicals Inventory (KECI), which took effect immediately. The updated Annex 2 can be accessed here.

South Korea’s Ministry of Environment (MoE) issued MoE Notice No. 2023-298 on May 5, 2023, seeking public comments on the updates to South Korea’s Existing Chemicals Inventory (KECI). Any comments are welcome before May 24, 2023.
The proposed updates include:
To disclose the chemical name of over 200 substances (They previously applied for confidential information protection with only generic names and the validity for data protection has expired);
To delete 4 items (KE No. 2015-3-6233, 2015-3-6256, 2016-3-7172, 2017-3-7250) which are identified as the same substance;
To specify CAS No. of 5 existing chemical substances (KE No. 99-3-1196, 99-3-1197, 99-3-1198, 2000-3-1648, 2011-3-5262) that were previously listed in the KECI, of which 3 substances’ chemical names are also to be updated (see screenshot below).

To update chemical information of 3 existing chemical substances (KE No. 2009-3-3854; 2010-3-4297; 2011-3-4949) that were previously listed in the KECI.
The KECI includes 44,514 substances (as of May 2023), which consists of two parts:
Annex 1 - Chemical substances domestically circulated in Korea prior to February 2, 1991; and
Annex 2 - Chemical substances published by MoE after hazard evaluation under K-CCA after February 2, 1991.
The proposed updates under consultation this time are regarding Annex 2. Details of the proposed updates can be accessed in the attached excel (click here), which are marked in red and blue.
