Thailand Proposes Single Gateway for Transit of 18 Hazardous Substances

Thailand’s DIW is consulting on a draft notification that would require the transit of 18 specified hazardous (precursor) chemicals to pass exclusively through Laem Chabang Port Customs House, with the rule taking effect 180 days after publication in the Royal Gazette.

On February 2, 2026, the Thailand Department of Industrial Works (DIW), under the Ministry of Industry, opened a public consultation regarding a draft notification to designate a "Single Gateway" for the transit of specific hazardous substances. The proposal requires that the transit of 18 designated hazardous substances, which fall under the responsibility of the DIW, must occur exclusively through the Laem Chabang Port Customs. The public consultation period is currently active and is scheduled to conclude on February 16, 2026.
