Update: The formal online search platform is reopened.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Thailand’s online search platform which was formally opened in 2020 (ChemLinked news) for searching the First Thailand Existing Chemicals Inventory (hereinafter referred to as ‘Inventory’) was recently shut down, instead the preliminary online search platform was opened for temporary use. However, some problems are identified in using the preliminary platform.
Compared with the formal online platform, chemicals can only be searched by entering the CAS number or the trade name of the substance on the preliminary platform, and the search result of the same item may be different. Take CAS number ‘50-00-0’ for example. Figure 1 below shows the search result of CAS number ‘50-00-0’ on the preliminary search platform, including chemical name, chemical type, hazardous substance type, entry number in the Inventory, etc. It can be found that this substance’s entry number shown on the new platform is No.296, of which on the formal platform is No.1964. Moreover, many chemicals that can be previously searched out on the formal online platform cannot be found on the preliminary one.

Relevant authorities in Thailand told ChemLinked that the formal online search platform has lots of mistakes and duplications of the chemical information. For better management of existing chemical substances in Thailand, the online search platform is under update to correct chemical information. According to the formal search online platform, 11479 entries are listed in the Inventory. The number may be reduced after filtering out duplications. In short, the update of the formal platform hasn’t been overall completed.
ChemLinked will continue to report the issues concerning chemical management in Thailand. Please stay tuned.
