China MEM Consults on Second Draft of Law on Safety of Hazardous Chemicals
Takehome: China MEM is soliciting comments on the second draft of the Law on Safety of Hazardous Chemicals from emergency management administrations at various levels. The draft Law defines the responsibilities of different regulatory authorities in the administration of hazardous chemicals, and provides systematic rules on the manufacture, storage, use, operations, transport, etc. of hazardous chemicals.

Australia to Adopt GHS Revision 7 from July 2020
On January 10, 2020, the Safe Work Australia (SWA) announced in a press release [1] that its members have agreed to practice the 7th revised edition of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) for management of workplace hazardous chemicals. Earlier in July 2019, the agency opened a consultation on the proposal to move to GHS Revision 7 (ChemLinked news [2]).

Taiwan Promulgates Revised Labelling and SDS Regulation for Toxic and Concerned Chemical
Takehome: Taiwan EPA published the new Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Labelling and SDS Regulation. The revised Regulation will come into effect on January 16, 2020, the same implementation date as Taiwan TCCSCA. The amendments of the Toxic Chemical Substances Labelling and SDS Regulation, renamed as the Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Labelling and SDS Regulation (hereafter referred to as the Regulation) was promulgated by Taiwan’s Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) on January 13, 2010.

China Consults on the Second Draft Revision of the Inventory of Hazardous Wastes
Takehome: A new draft revision of the Inventory of Hazardous Wastes was published for public comments. More exemptions were drafted. Three months after China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) released the last draft revision of the Inventory of Hazardous Wastes, an updated revision was drafted for public comments on December 30, 2019. This consultation will end on February 3, 2020.
