Taiwan Proposes Amendments to Regulations for Priority Management Chemicals

On March 26, 2024, Taiwan’s Ministry of Labor (MOL) proposed amendments to the Regulations for Governing Designating and Handling of Priority Management Chemicals (hereinafter referred to as the Regulations). Public comments are welcome before April 25, 2024.

China RoHS to Apply New Testing Standards
Feb 28, 2024
China's National Certification and Accreditation Administration has announced to adjust the applicable testing method standards for conformity assessment on China RoHS 2. Specifically, the existing GB/T 26125-2011 Electrical and Electronic Products- Determination of Six Regulated Substances (Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls, Polybrominated) will be replaced by the GB/T 39560 series

EU Introduces RoHS Exemption for Cadmium and Lead in Recovered PVC
Feb 02, 2024
On January 10, 2024, European Commission published the Directive (EU) 2024/232 to amend the RoHS Directive (Directive 2011/65/EU). The amendment introduces an exemption for cadmium and lead in plastic profiles in electrical and electronic windows and doors containing recovered rigid polyvinyl chloride. The amendment shall enter into force on January 30, 2024. Member States need to apply the new rules from August 1, 2024.

India Updates Exemption List of EEE under RoHS Rules

India Establishes New Legal Framework for E-Waste Management (Updated on Nov 2, 2022)

On May 19, 2022, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India issued the Draft E-waste (Management) Rules to solicit public comments until July 18, 2022. Once adopted, the Rules, which proposes a new legal framework for channeling electronic waste generated in the country to the formal e-waste recycling sector, will replace the E-Waste (Management) Rules (2016) and E-Waste (Management) Amendment Rules (2018).

Taiwan Requires SDS Submission for 10 Priority Management Chemicals

On April 8, 2022, Taiwan’s Ministry of Labor (MoL) published a notice to require handlers of ten priority management chemicals (including mixtures containing over 1% (w/w) of such chemicals) to submit Safety Data Sheet (SDS) as supplementary information through the online PRochem platform (https://prochem.osha.gov.tw/) before May 6, 2022.
