On July 20, 2022, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued a circular to make public the statistics on the conformity assessments for electrical and electronic products (EEPs). As of June 30, 2022, the MIIT had received 14,631 conformity assessments involving 21,933 products, which were submitted via the RoHS public service platform by 1, 242 enterprises, with an increase of 3,513 conformity assessments since July 31, 2021.
Among the 21,933 products, nearly 4,500 are air conditioners, accounting for the largest proportion of the total products followed by the monitors (over 4,000). The products are confirmed with two different conformity assessment methods, of which 16,885 products use self-declaration and 5,048 products use certification. The MIIT shared a chart to show the details (see below, as of June 30, 2022).

China RoHS 2 was implemented in 2016 by the Administrative Measures for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products. If the 12 categories of EEPs (see the chart above) were manufactured or imported after November 1, 2019, RoHS conformity assessment must be carried out and the results must be submitted to the RoHS public service platform which was developed and launched in December 2019 for managing conformity assessment information of the restricted use of hazardous chemicals in EEPs, publishing conformity assessment results, facilitating public inquiries and statistical analysis, etc.
