As of the end of July 2021, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT)[1] had received 12,369 conformity assessments submitted on its RoHS public service platform from 1,140 companies, involving 18,420 products, an increase of 2,555 since last December.
The China RoHS public service platform, officially launched in December 2019, was developed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the General Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. It was designed for managing conformity assessment information of the restricted use of hazardous chemicals in electrical and electronic products (EEPs), publishing conformity assessment results, facilitating public inquiries and statistical analysis, etc.
For the 18,420 products, nearly 4,000 are air conditioners, accounting for the largest proportion of the total products. The products are confirmed with two different conformity assessment methods, of which 13,780 products use self-declaration and 4,640 products use certification.
China RoHS 2[2]was implemented in 2016 by the Administrative Measures for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products[3]. 12 categories of products[4], including refrigerators, air conditions, washing machines, electric water heaters, printers, copy machines, fax machines, TVs, monitors, computers, mobile phones, and telephones, if manufactured or imported after November 1, 2019, must carry out RoHS conformity assessment and submit the results to the platform.
