EU Member States Plan to Evaluate 10 Substances in 2024-2026

Those substances subject to immediate evaluation are listed in the first year of the plan.

On March 19, 2024, ECHA updated the Community Rolling Action Plan (CoRAP) for the year 2024-2026, listing 28 substances suspected of posing a risk to human health or the environment for evaluation by 11 Member State Competent Authorities, under the substance evaluation process of the REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006.

The CoRAP is a list of prioritized substances for evaluation over a period of three years. Member States evaluate substances listed in the CoRAP to clarify whether their use poses a risk to human health or the environment.

The plan contains 11 newly allocated substances and 17 substances already included in the previous CoRAP 2023-2025 update, published on 21 March 2023. For 11 out of these 17 substances, the evaluation year has been postponed, mainly to await submission of new information requested under dossier evaluation.

Out of the 28 substances to be evaluated, 10 substances will be evaluated in 2024, while 13 will be evaluated in 2025 and another 5 in 2026. However, for substances listed for years 2025 and 2026, changes can be introduced in the next CoRAP update in 2025.

Here is a list of 10 substances confirmed to be evaluated this year:

Based on the substance evaluation results, the member states may conclude that the risks are sufficiently under control. Otherwise, it may lead to the proposal of EU-wide risk management measures such as restrictions, identification of substances of very high concern or other actions outside the scope of REACH e.g. harmonised classification.
