Global Chemical Regulation Highlights | May 2026

In May 2026, China updated the catalog for precursor chemical exports to specific countries and revised the China RoHS regulated product and exemption lists. Taiwan updated its dangerous goods rules for air transport, issued non-animal testing guidelines under Taiwan REACH, and consulted on GHS labeling and hazard communication amendments. South Korea amended the K-REACH Enforcement Decree to improve dispute resolution on shared registration data and representative transitions. Japan officially designated chlorpyrifos, MCCP, and long-chain PFCA as Class I Specified Chemical Substances under CSCL. Thailand consulted on updates to its hazardous substances list for CWC compliance, Vietnam moved forward with draft controls for medium- and high-risk chemical products and explosive-related ammonium nitrate standards. The EU proposed new REACH restrictions on PHT and also considered stricter limits on CMRs in childcare products. The USA proposed strict new use rules for cobalt lithium manganese nickel oxide in batteries, advanced PFAS and TSCA actions.
