South Korea Consults on Hazard Evaluation Results for New Substances Registered under K-REACH

121 new substances registered under K-REACH were issued with corresponding hazard evaluation results for public comments. Another 146 new substances registered under K-REACH were published only with chemical name and CAS No. only.

South Korea’s National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) issued the NIER Notice No.2016-215 on 30 Jun 2016, detailing the results of hazard evaluation of 121 new substances (given number as 2016-297 ~ 2016-417) registered under K-REACH for public consultation. Any comments are welcome before 20 Jul 2016.

The hazard evaluation results for the first batch of 43 new substances (given number as 2015-1 ~ 2015-43) registered under K-REACH were official published by NIER Announcement No.2015-18 on 17 Dec 2015 (CL news). The second batch involves 253 registered new substances (given number as 2015-44 ~ 2015-296) (CL news). Along with the recently issued batch (still soliciting comments), there would be 417 new substances issued with detailed hazard evaluation results.

In addition, the list of registered new substances which pose a lower exposure risk and are not subject to special requirements was updated. 146 substances (No.232-No.377) were newly appended to the list (updated to include 377 substances) with only chemical name and CAS No. available.
