South Korea Designates 74 New Hazardous Substances

South Korea’s NICS has amended the hazardous substances list to add 74 substances and update 3 entries, and has set phased K-CCA compliance deadlines, including a later effective date for sodium hypochlorite.

On March 27, 2026, South Korea's National Institute of Chemical Safety (NICS) issued NICS Announcement No. 2026-5, officially amending the List of Substances Acutely Hazardous to Human Health, Substances Chronically Hazardous to Human Health, and Substances Hazardous to the Environment (hereinafter referred to as the List). Promulgated under the Act on Registration and Evaluation, etc. of Chemical Substances (K-REACH), this regulatory update revises the chemical information of 3 previously listed hazardous substances, and includes 74 newly designated hazardous substances to the List.
