Taiwan Updates Toxic Chemical Substances List to 310 Substances

On 31 Dec 2015 Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) updated the toxic chemical substances list (TCSL).

After the 7th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention, Taiwan added Dichloronaphthalene and other 4 substances into the TCSL and is now regulated as a Class 1 toxic chemical substances. So far 310 substances are regulated as toxic substances in Taiwan, including:

  • 112 Class 1 substances

  • 100 Class 2 substances

  • 72 Class 3 substances

  • 92 Class 4 substances

(Note* some overlap exists among Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3)

The details of the newly added 5 substances are specified as below.

Transitional measures have been provided for the above mentioned 10 toxic chemical substances in terms of substances handling, release quantity recording, transportation, etc.

Taiwan authority also prohibits the use of Endosulfan, Alpha (α) endosulfan, Beta (β) endosulfan and Endosulfan sulfate in pesticides via this revision.
