In October, the Thailand Department of Agriculture (DOA) issued a notice [1] seeking public feedback on the new revision of the Hazardous Substances List. This revision is supposed to enter into effect on 1st December.
The List, which just completed the previous revision [2] in September, sorts hazardous substances into 4 types for different levels of supervision. This amendment just involves List 1.1, which is under the management of DOA. Specifically, in the new revision, the category of Glyphosate, Chlorpyrifos, Paraquat, and their derivatives are proposed to be changed to Type 4, which means they will be totally prohibited. The exemption condition for Chlorpyrifos, Chlorpyrifos-methyl and Paraquat dichloride are repealed as well. The detailed information of the substances and the revision is shown in Table 1.
