As ChemLinked reported in February 2015, Thailand has put the inventory of existing chemical substances on the agenda and started to gather information from manufactures and importers.
To establish a comprehensive inventory of existing chemicals needs long term efforts and for the first step, DIW required the manufactures and importers to notify their chemicals if they possess certain hazardous properties. These chemicals will be added into the Annex 5.6 of the List of Hazardous Substances and therefore appear in the inventory of existing chemicals.
At present, the notification to Annex 5.6 is underway. DIW will release a draft of the inventory of existing chemicals early this year, based on the List of Hazardous Chemicals and DIW’s own consultation database. After that, enterprises could notify their chemicals as existing chemicals if they don’t find them on the inventory. For now, manufactures and importers that want to notify their chemicals should conduct the Annex 5.6 notification.
