On April 11, 2022, Thailand Department of Industrial Works (DIW) published in the Government Gazette the revised regulation Notification of the Department of Industrial Works Re: Criteria and Procedures for Registration of Specialized Person Responsible for Safety Storage of Hazardous Substances and Reporting of Safety Storage of Hazardous Substances under Authorization of DIW1 (Notification B.E. 2565 (2022), hereinafter referred to as Notification). The Notification took effect on May 1, 2022, and the previous version Notification B.E. 2551 (2008)2 was repealed at the same time. Compared with the previous version, the Notification optimizes the criteria and procedures for enterprises involving in handling hazardous substances to appoint a specialized person responsible for safety of hazardous substance storage, as well as definitions of the corresponding terms.
According to the Notification, enterprises handling hazardous substances regulated by the DIW shall submit the annual report on the safety storage of hazardous substances for the period of a calendar year by March 31 next year, which shall be prepared by the registered specialized person using the official form and submitted via the DIW online system. As a transition measure, the DIW specifies in the Notification that relevant enterprises are allowed to submit the annual report of 2021 by August 31, 2022.
