South Korea Supplements 15 Substances into Existing Chemical Substance Inventory

South Korea’s MoE officially listed 15 chemical substances (KE-19-0001~KE-19-0015) into the Existing Chemicals Inventory (KECI) by MoE Announcement No. 2020-76 on April 14, 2020. They were domestically circulated in South Korea before February 2, 1991.

Thailand DIW Consults on 3 Implementation Specifications under the Hazardous Substance Act

Thailand DIW is currently consulting on three draft regulations under HAS, which includes: the exemption conditions under the Act, the exemption conditions of List 5.6 substances, and the inclusion criteria for List 5.6 Hazardous Substance. The consultation will conclude on April 30. Online submission, telephone feedback, and email feedback are all available.

Japan Announces Update to PAC List, 6 Substances Added and Three Removed

On April 1, 2020, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) announced that six substances will be added to the list of Priority Assessment Chemical Substances (PACs) under the country’s Chemical Substance Control Law (CSCL).

Vietnam Solicits Substance Information to Supplement the Draft National Chemical Inventory

On April 4, 2020, Vietnam’s Department of Chemicals under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) issued a notice to seek information on more chemicals to supplement the draft National Chemical Inventory (NCI). Enterprises are requested to submit information on chemicals that have been imported, manufactured, and used in Vietnam before May 30, 2020.

Vietnam Updates the List of Banned and Restricted Active Ingredients in Insecticide and Disinfectant

On March 19, 2020, the World Trade Organization (WTO) issued a Notification to solicit comments from members on Vietnam's draft Circular which promulgated the List of active ingredients banned from use and restricting the scope of insecticide and disinfectant registration for household and medical use. According to the Notification, the consultation will last for 60 days, and the draft Circular is scheduled for adoption in June and will finally enter in force on August 1.

Taiwan Starts Annual Reporting of Registered New and Existing Substances
Apr 03, 2020
Annual reporting of the registered new and existing chemical substances is a new post-registration requirement in Taiwan. According to the Article 24 of the revised Regulations of New and Existing Chemicals Registration, the registrant shall report annually through the IT system between April 1 to September 30, including the registrant information, registration number, and last year’s volume of manufacture or importation.

Vietnam to Assist Enterprises to Comply with GHS Requirements in Asia Pacific and EU

At last, MOIT also recommends enterprises to communicate with the government through phone or e-mail if they need other technical support.
