Updated on 31 Jan 2017 by NIER Announcement No. 2017-1, the updates were officially approved.
Korea National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) is now consulting on updates to the GHS Classification List. Published on 29 Dec 2016 by NIER Notice No. 2016-397, the classification information, pictograms, signal words, hazard statements and M factors of (1) 29 toxic substances (No. 2016-1-744~2016-1-772) and (2) one type of restricted substance (No.06-5-6) are subject to a period of public consultation lasting 20 days.
For the 29 toxic substances, 6 toxic substances (No. 2016-1-744~2016-1-749) have been officially added into South Korea’s Toxic Chemical Substance List (TCSL) (CL news) while the other 23 substances (No. 2017-1-750~2017-1-772) are still open to public comments until 31 Jan 2017 before final approval into the TCSL (CL news).
For restricted substances (No.06-5-6), 8 substances were added on 30 Sep 2016(CL news). The proposed updates to GHS Classification List will align with the amendments to the restricted substance list.
