Thailand Consults on Updated Hazardous Chemicals List

On 11 Mar, Thailand’s Department of Industrial Works (DIW) issued a notice (B.E.2562), consulting on a proposal to make some changes to the List of Hazardous Substances under the Hazardous Substances Control Act (HSCA).

The proposed changes are as follows, which relates to Annex 4.1, 4.2 and 5.1 of the list (click here to see the details).

  • The hazard classification of chlorpyrifos (No.24) in Annex 4.1 will be changed from Type 3 to Type 4.

  • The hazard classification of amphoteric surfactants (No.15) in Annex 4.2 will be changed from Type 3 to Type 1.

  • The use conditions of two substances in Annex 5.1 (No. 60 and No. 477) will be supplemented.

  • 4 substances (No. 226~229) will be added into Annex 4.1 and 1 substance (No.29) will be added into Annex 4.2 which are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

  • 7 substances (No. 519~525) will be added into Annex 5.1 which is regulated by the Department of Industrial Works (DIW).

The List of Hazardous Chemicals as a supporting document to HSCA has been revised from time to time. The last update was accessible here.

The substances included in the List of Hazardous Chemicals are subject to notification, registration, or permit/license, etc. according to the hazard type (Type 1~Type 4). For substances not listed, they need to do the Annex 5.6 notification if they have one of the 10 hazardous properties specified by DIW.
