1. Four substances have been added to the South Korea’s Toxic Chemical Substance List (TCSL) and GHS Classification List. 2. Two substances have been added to the South Korea’s Observational Chemical Substances List (OCSL).

China’s Dust Explosion: The Lessons Learned
After the Kunshan dust explosion, China has taken quick and strong measures to prevent similar workplace accidents. While rectification of the magnesium and aluminum industry is a top priority, other sectors involved with flammable dusts/powders will now also be subject to enhanced supervision.

1. China NCSN approval statistics are issued by the MEP semi-annually. 2. 63 regular notifications, 1,559 simplified notifications and 472 scientific research record notifications have been approved in the first half of 2014. 3. More re-notifications for increased tonnage band and repeat notifications have been submitted.

Dust Explosion Kills 75 Lives in a Chinese Metal Production Worksite
On Aug 2nd a massive metal dust explosion happened in Kunshan, China, killing 75 people and leaving the 185 badly injured. China SAWS has conducted an investigation progress and called for a thorough rectification of the relevant industrial sectors.

There is no clear division of substance types described both in Measures on the Environmental Management of New Chemical Substance and New Chemical Substance Notification Guidance Document.
