On May 26, 2025, South Korea’s National Institute of Chemical Safety (NICS) announce the adoption of the proposed updates to Annex 1 and Annex 2 of the Chemical Hazard Assessment Results. The adopted updates are consistent with the draft made public for consultation in April 2025 (see previous article below).

By NICS Notice No.2025-37 on April 8, 2025, South Korea’s National Institute of Chemical Safety (NICS) invited the public to give feedback on the proposed updates to hazard assessment results of existing and new chemical substances registered under K-REACH. Any comments are welcome before April 28, 2025.
Proposed updates to Annex 1 – New Chemical Substances Hazard Assessments Results
To disclose chemical names or CAS numbers of 4 previously listed new chemical substances as their CBI proception periods expired, i.e., Given No. 2019-360, 2019-672, 2020-171, 2021-160.
To delete Given No. 2016-284 because it’s the same chemical substance assigned to Given No.2022-230.
Proposed updates to Annex 2 – Existing Chemical Substances Hazard Assessments Results
To add hazard assessment results of 29 previously registered existing chemical substances (Given No. 2025.555 ~ 2025.583), 6 of which are found toxic.
To supplement unique numbers assigned for 20 toxic chemical substances (see figure below), which have been designated in August 2024 (read more) and January 2025 (read more).
These registered and assessed substances were issued with English names, CAS No., corresponding hazards, classification and labeling information, as well as the determination of whether it is classified as toxic chemical.
