Vietnam Closes Nomination to National Chemicals Inventory

A few days ago, Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) stopped accepting nominations to the national chemicals inventory on Oct 30th. The cease of nomination is temporary according to the Center of Data and Chemical Incident Support (CECHEDAR) under MOIT. CECHEDAR will spend this time sorting the data they have already received.

CECHDAR also revealed a 3 phase program of the future work on the national chemicals inventory:

  1. Phase 1 is the data collection stage. All the chemicals provided by enterprises with CAS numbers will be included into the draft inventory. This phase is expected to be over at the end of 2018.

  2. Phase 2 is the consultation stage. MOIT will seek opinions from public and other chemical management agencies in Vietnam. This phase of work will be carried out in 2018.

  3. Phase 3 is the last round of consultation and review on the draft inventory. The finalized version is expected to be released in 2019.

CECHEDAR intends to release the 3rd version of the draft inventory in Jan 2018. This version of draft will contain the chemicals that were reported by enterprises before Oct 30th 2017. The chemicals reported after this date will be included in the next version of the draft.

CECHEDAR reminds enterprises to submit the information of the chemicals in WORD or EXCEL documents instead of PDF format and reduced the inconvenience during data input.
