China Releases Mandatory RoHS Standard for Hazardous Chemical Limits and Labeling (Updated on August 25, 2025)
On August 1, 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and Standardization Administration of China officially approved and released China's first mandatory national RoHS Standard GB 26572-2025, titled "Requirements for Restricted Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products." This pivotal standard is slated for implementation on August 1, 2027, replacing the existing standard GB/T 26572-2011.

ECHA Updates Universal PFAS Restriction Proposal, Including Assessments for 8 More Sectors
On August 20, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) released the updated proposal to restrict per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The proposal, jointly prepared by five member states—Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden—aims to comprehensively reduce the risks posed by these "forever chemicals" to human health and the environment under the EU's REACH regulation.
