China On August 2, 2024, the Chinese Ministry of Public Security (MPS), the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), the Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM), the National Health Commission (NHC), the General Administration of Customs (GACC) and the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) jointly announced the designation of 7 chemicals as Category II precursor chemicals. South Korea, Japan and India By NICS Notice No. 2024-70, South Korea’s National Institute of Chemical Safety (NICS) is now soliciting public comments on the hazard assessment results of 59 existing chemical substances and 32 new chemical substances, which have been registered under K-REACH. These registered and assessed substances were issued with English names, CAS No., corresponding hazards, classification and labeling information, as well as the determination of whether it is classified as toxic chemical. The comment period is due by September 19, 2024. (Read more)

Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore
The Singapore Standards Council recently issued Corrigendum No.1 to SS 586-2:2022 (SS 586-2:2022+C1:2024) to update the SDS cut-off limits for mixtures containing specific target organ toxicants (single exposure and repeated exposure). This corrigendum to SS 586-2:2022 has taken effect in July 2024. (Read more)

European Union On July 30, 2024, European Commission opened up a 4-week consultation which proposed to introduce 2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4,6 ditertpentylphenol (UV-328) to Part A of Annex I with specific exemptions. The draft delegated regulation is open for consultation until August 27, 2024. (Read more)

North America On August 30, 2024, EPA released its draft risk evaluation for diisononyl phthalate (DINP) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) for public comment. In the draft risk evaluation, EPA preliminarily determined that two industrial uses and one consumer use significantly contribute to the unreasonable risk of DINP out of the 45 uses evaluated.
